Harry Black

President, Pan Am Place & Pan Am Boxing Club

“Few people in Manitoba share Harry Black’s passion for boxing. A celebrated amateur boxer in his youth, Harry is President, Head Coach and Trainer at the Pan Am Boxing Club and President of Boxing Manitoba. While Harry has spent decades teaching countless people how to throw punches, his purpose has not been to teach them violence. Instead, he uses boxing as a catalyst to find peace, harmony and purpose in their lives through the physical and mental health aspects of the sport.

Through inspiration from his coach and mentor, and with the help and passion of volunteers from Pan Am Boxing Club, Harry founded Pan Am Place in 2013, a non-profit homeless shelter for at-risk youth. The shelter operates on a merit-based system where young men have to apply to enter the program and are required to do regular volunteer activities, work experience or educational training, all while maintaining a fitness routine. This combination helps participants gain self-esteem, social skills, and a sense of discipline to help them get, and keep, their lives on track. Last year, Pan Am Place also began fundraising for their second location ‘Pan Am Place 2’, a facility aimed at supporting women needing shelter and life skills.

As the founder and Managing Partner of FH Black & Company Chartered Accountants, and part of the family ownership of Protelec Alarms, Harry shows an unwavering commitment to our community. Through decades of teaching and mentorship, Harry inspires countless people to reach their goals whether in business, in the ring or in their personal lives.
