Opportunity Overview
Our client, a leader in the safety & security industry in Western Canada, is looking for a Human Resources Coordinator to join their team, who has previous experience working in a unionized environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following duties and will possess the skills and credentials listed below:
Job Responsibilities
- Provide detailed and ongoing communication with the HR Manager respecting day to day issues, duties, and action items;
- Provide daily support and guidance on HR policies and procedures to managers and employees;
- Participate in the development of new HR processes and procedures;
- Participate in recruitment efforts from start to finish;
- Coordinate all employee onboarding and training;
- Maintain records of personnel-related data;
- Oversee clerical aspect of the Company’s health and dental benefits;
- Assist with payroll;
- Participate in employee discipline meetings and participate in the issuance of corrective actions;
- Process employee termination documents and conducts exit interviews;
- Make recommendations for improvements and new initiatives to the HR Manager;
- Interpret provisions from the Collective Bargaining Agreement and is the point of contact for employees requiring assistance with said agreement;
- Participate in the development and implementation of a safe work environment;
- Complete assignments in accordance with The Workplace Safety and Health Act, the Workplace Safety and Health Regulation, and the operational procedures set by the Company;
- Responsible for the oversight of all aspects of company’s safety and health management system;
- Assist with administrative duties as needed (document preparation, schedule maintenance, maintain office inventory, etc.).
Core Skill Requirements
- 5-7 experience as an HR Coordinator or relevant human resources/administrative position;
- Previous experience in a unionized environment is required;
- Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices;
- Proficient and knowledgeable in computer software programs, specifically MS Office;
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to handle data with confidentiality;
- Good organizational and time management skills.
