Our client, a successful alarm services provider located in Winnipeg, MB is currently seeking a Senior Accountant/Financial Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following duties and will possess the skills and credentials listed below.


This individual reports directly to the President and is responsible for the efficient and effective day to day operations of the corporate accounting department.

  • Responsible for the day to day running of the Accounting department, including the management of staff.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the computer system;
  • Responsible for the month-end closing procedures and cut-off of invoicing and inventory control;
  • Responsible for the generation and dissemination of the internal monthly Financial Statements and external monthly reporting requirements;
  • Responsible for monthly Financial Analysis, evaluation/investigation of actual financial results compared to budget;
  • Assist the President in the preparation of annual budgets and uploading of the budgets into Amador;
  • Responsible for ad-hoc financial analysis as requested by the President and Vice President;
  • Responsible for the preparation of year-end lead sheets and working papers for the external accounting firm, and being the point of contact for the accounting firm.

Accounts Receivable and Credit

  • Responsible for the oversight of Accounts Receivable Collections;
  • Responsible to assist with difficult/escalated credit accounts;
  • Responsible to review customer credit applications, changes in credit limits and/or approve customer exceeded credit limits.

Other Duties

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of process improvements and internal control procedures, where needed;
  • Support the AP/AR Clerk and Internal Accountant based on workload/capacity;
  • Other task assignments as trained/directed by the President.


  • Professional Accountant, CPA with 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Action-oriented, results driven with the ability to work in a team and fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent mathematical and financial skills, with experience in excel;
  • Exceptional priority setting, planning, and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and efficiency;
  • Customer focused (internal and external) with exceptional customer service skills;
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, driven.
  • Strong negotiation skills;
  • The ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.
