Description Overview

Reporting to the Director of Customer Success, the BDR – Product is the first line of communication with potential customers, responsible for seeking new business opportunities by qualifying leads and prospecting existing business accounts, engaging buyers and developing a strong customer relationship.

Working closely with the data product development team, the BDR – Product acts as a subject matter expert, reviewing product design, suggesting enhancements, and overseeing the development to ensure marketability of the company’s platform.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet customer SLA’s (Service Level Agreement) as set by the company.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly KPI’s and sales targets set forth by the company.
  • Source new business opportunities and qualify leads through outbound prospecting efforts such as cold calling, email, in-person meetings, tradeshows, and social media.
  • Manage and grow new and existing key client relationships.
  • Manage and maintain an up to date and accurate sales funnel.
  • Identify client needs and challenges, customizing the appropriate product /service solutions to increase sales.
  • Educate, train, and support customers on how to best leverage the company’s platform to their benefit.
  • Follow-up with potential prospects, assigning qualified leads to sales representatives.
  • Analyze market reports and trends to determine where to seek out new business opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders based on assessing the company’s platform customer needs and buying trends, monitoring the product lifecycle, and identifying common issues, and important features.
  • Conduct thorough market research of competitor products and services, including surveys, desktop research, emails, outbound calls, and attending product launches of rival companies, ensuring the profitability and continued growth of the company’s platform product.
  • Establish pricing strategies and guidelines for new product development.
  • Support marketing team in developing sales and marketing strategies for profitability.
  • Under direction of the Director of Customer Success, prepare and execute product demonstrations, training, and(or) product launches to internal and external audiences.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Data team to share client feedback and assist with the development and enhancement of new processes and systems.
  • Identify super users and customer advocates for product feedback, beta groups and customer success stories.

Education & Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience working with inside or direct sales and lead generation (including cold calls).
  • 3+ years sales experience in a B2B or B2C environment with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • 3+ years’ experience leading high performing teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or related field (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of technology marketing (SaaS, IT, or tech products).
  • Strong understanding of mobile application use.
  • Strong presentation / demonstration skillset.
  • Experience using help desk software, remote support tools, and an understanding of how CRM systems work.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace and cross-functional environment.
  • Problem solver with an ability to think outside the box.
  • Understanding of technology and desire to learn more.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and navigate a high growth, rapidly changing organization, building and maintaining internal and external relationships.
  • Proven oral and written communications skills with a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, own processes, and work independently as required.
  • Positive mindset, enthusiasm, and energy.
  • Knowledge in grain marketing or agriculture is considered an asset.
