Special Projects Manager

 

Overview

Our client, a Winnipeg based accounting firm, offering services to small to medium sized businesses, is looking for a Special Projects Manager to join their team! Reporting to the Shareholders, this position will be responsible for carrying out special projects as defined and determined by the Shareholders and will include working on client assignments within each of their Divisions.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of year-end in the Financial Services division, including preparation of financial statements and tax returns (corporate);
  • Assistance in the Tax Services Division, including tax planning and research;
  • Preparation of estate returns in accordance with professional standards, company standards, reasonableness, accounting standards & tax legislation;
  • Preparation of complex T1 returns (including the farm returns), as needed;
  • T4 & T5 preparation, as needed;
  • Assistance in the review of monthly, quarterly, annual bookkeeping files;
  • Specific duties & assignments as required by the Business Advisory Division;
  • Preparation of business plans;
  • Preparation of cash flow projections;
  • Personal financial planning projects;
  • Perform financial and system analysis;
  • Conduct research on different strategic initiatives;
  • Meeting client and company deadlines;
  • Strict confidentiality of client affairs;
  • Reporting issues and concerns to the Shareholders on a timely basis regarding file preparation, client, accounting & tax issues;
  • Supporting and promoting the company’s name and concept.

 

Skills

  • CPA designation is required, with hands-on experience in accounting, corporate & personal tax preparation.
  • Solid knowledge of, and skills in, corporation tax.
  • Solid knowledge of, and skills in, personal tax.
  • Solid knowledge of, and skills in, accounting & bookkeeping.
  • IT skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), GSuite, Quickbooks, Sage, Caseware, TaxPrep, Jazz-It.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written, electronic).
  • Proficient keyboarding skills.
  • A positive attitude with a desire to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills (organization & prioritization).
  • Ability to co-ordinate multiple tasks.
