Our client is a fully integrated, full-service ad agency that serves clients across Canada. Recognized and awarded internationally for their work, their expertise includes advertising, branding, digital marketing, media placement, social media, and public relations. They understand how to influence their audience and accelerate their growth.

They are currently looking to hire an experienced Senior Strategist to become part of their growing, dynamic, and creative environment in Winnipeg. The company’s strategic services department includes media strategy, planning and buying; public relations, publicity and issues management; brand and marketing strategy; discovery and formal research management; agency marketing and new business development.

Working closely with agency leadership and our account services and digital marketing departments, they are a versatile team of communications professionals who provide communications triage, marketing diagnostics and branding rehabilitation for an interesting cross-section of clients spanning multiple sectors. Together they deliver strategically sound communications solutions and help power the ideas that our remarkable creative department conceives.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with agency account managers to conduct needs analyses to determine appropriate approaches to address client branding and marketing needs.
  • Facilitating group discussion sessions and individual interviews with clients and their stakeholders to uncover brand attributes and background that informs strategic direction.
  • Managing formal research programs, working with internal media and digital marketing teams to pull audience and media data, and conducting informal research to provide support for strategic direction.
  • Drawing from all sources to develop branding strategies that include components such as narrative storytelling, brand pillars, values, character, etc.
  • Drawing from all sources to develop comprehensive marketing strategies that include recommendations for earned, owned and paid media.
  • Building and making sophisticated findings, brand and marketing presentations.
  • Participating in developing new business proposals and pitching for new work in partnership with senior leaders and supported by proposal specialist.
  • Participating in ideation sessions with other agency team members; supporting account services team in client relationship building; supporting creative team in making the leap from strategy to execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualification

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing or a related field.
  • Proven track record working within a full-service advertising agency.
  • A marketing/business degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong and creative written communication skills.
  • An engaging facilitator and gifted storyteller who generates enthusiasm for branding and marketing concepts through compelling presentations.
  • A high degree of business acumen.
  • Exceptional computer skills in MS Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
