They are currently looking to hire an experienced Food Services Manager & Head Chef. This role will be an integral part of building the infrastructure and foundation before the grand opening in fall of 2022. Working in the areas of Food Services, Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance, the Food Services Manager & Head Chef models person-directed care and takes an active role in building community and promoting wellness for the seniors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all operations are performed in a person-directed care environment.
  • Controlling and directing the food preparation process.
  • Creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes ensuring variety and quality.
  • Determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering. Dealing with suppliers and ensuring that they supply quality goods
  • Responsible for ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines.
  • Operating in risk management and continuous quality improvement to provide the highest possible standard of care.
  • Planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the overall management of home environment services ensuring that quality standards are met.
  • Participating in and monitoring the budgeting process for the department in conjunction with the Home Environment Coordinator and the Executive Director to manage operations within the determined budget.
  • Evaluating team needs on an ongoing basis and ensure that there are appropriate staffing patterns and levels in all areas of support services.

Skills & Qualification

  • Previous culinary experience and kitchen management.
  • Experience in leading housekeeping and laundry teams would be considered an asset.
  • Senior care or long-term care experience is preferred.
  • Practical working knowledge of computers, devices, and associated programs/apps.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, concern, and interest in providing quality care and service to our seniors.
  • Ability to interrelate well with others and establish positive relationships with seniors, their families, other staff members, volunteers, and the public.
  • Quick adaptation in a progressive change-oriented environment.
  • Able to work independently, evaluate progress and take responsibility to grow.
  • A genuine interest in learning more about person-directed care and how it applies to our work within our community of seniors.
